Google + Business Page – How to Start

November 16, 2011

So you have a Facebook page, a Twitter account and a Linked In profile, do you want to more?

Well with Google+ becoming a great social media tool, they have introduced a business page to their already great site. Here’s mine.

But how do you do it?

Step 1

Visit http://www.google.com/+/business/  and select Create a Business Page. You will need to be logged into your Google+ account first so if you are not do this too.

Step 2

Next you need to select your category:

  • Local Business or Place
  • Product or Brand
  • Company, Institution or Organization
  • Arts, Entertainment or Sports
  • Other
Step 3
If you have selected Local Business or Place, then find your location in Google using your country and primary phone number. This links in with your Google Place, if you don’t already have one then this is a great time to add one too!
Step 4
Customising your profle are quite limited so use what you can. Add a profile picture, ideally your logo and a tagline, utilising your USP in only 10 words!
Step 5
Promote your page through all your other social media accounts and on your website!
I hope this has helped. If you are still struggling or haven’t the time to do this then pop over to my site to see my packages.

Business Mums Unite Conference

October 28, 2011

Last Wednesday I attended the Business Mums Unite conference which was held at the Albert Hall Conference Hall in Nottingham.

Charlotte Pearson from Strategic Consultancy was the wonderful lady who organised this fantastic event. There where a handful of exhibitors and lots of interesting sessions planned for the afternoon.

The keynote speaker for the day was Elaine Hanzak-Gott who had very moving and poignant speech. In fact it actually brought me to tears. She is such an inspiring lady who has a lot to deal with and still manages to smile and inspire others.

Naomi Timperley was the second speaker to take the stage and she shared with us how she has come to be where she is and how she is helping young entrepeneurs start their own businesses.

Sally Pettitt from The Mother Factor shared with us tips on how to get the most out of networking. These tips will be shared with you in a post to follow shortly.

And the last lady to take the stage was Rebecca Jones The Red Shoe Business Woman. She was fantastic, spoke completely the truth on how we as women try to be superwoman and actually we aren’t. She told us we need to concentrate on working less and earning more! She was very engaging and full of energy as she walked back and forth across the stage talking to the conference.

We then broke for lunch which was fantastic and networked before attending the sessions we had booked in the afternoon.

I attended Becky from Baby Budgeting’s  Blogging for Business and Laura Morris’s Learn the 3 R’s in Customer Service. Both where well presented and contained just the right information I was looking for.

Overall this was a fantastic day although a little hard to find but the venue was beautiful and the conference was spot on!

Become a Mums Business Directory Affiliate

October 12, 2011

Affiliate programs are an excellent way to earn some extra money from your blog or website.

The Mums Business Directory have just launched a fantastic affiliate program which not only earns you some money if people join the directory after clicking on your link, but is also an excellent site which provides lots of information and contact details for business owners and mums.

With the new affiliate scheme, just five Bronze referrals will generate enough revenue to cover the cost of a Bronze business listing on the site for one year, currently priced at £10.

Display badges, text links and creatives are all available to members on the Mums Business Directory site together with further details about the Affiliate Programme and online instructions. Affiliate links can also be included in emails and posted on Twitter and Facebook.

The directory’s creator Emma Burford says: “The whole concept of creating the Mums Business Directory was to support mums in business and highlight the many fantastic websites out there under one roof so they can easily be found.

“I’m launching the Affiliate Programme to reward Mums Business Directory members who choose to advertise the directory through banners and links on their sites. It will help them to earn a passive income to support their business while promoting the directory at the same time.”

The Mums Business Directory is a rapidly growing resource for mums and business owners alike, giving them the opportunity to promote their products and services online and connect with others for support and advice. The site currently has over 500 members from across the UK covering all main business sectors.
